Vision & Values

CAPE is committed to supporting Wisconsin as a whole through the work that is done at the University of Wisconsin. In order to best support Wisconsin, we recognize the need for access to the UW and interaction between the UW and Wisconsin communities. To guarantee access and interaction while maintaining the highest standards within the UW requires significant investments of capital and human resources.

Mission Statement

To work together with other stakeholders to strengthen the University of Wisconsin by securing sufficient funding for education, research and outreach, and distributing it in a democratic and transparent manner.

Values

QUALITY

Research
The University of Wisconsin should be fully funded so that top-notch faculty and scholars can continue to work on the cutting-edge in a wide range of disciplines. In order to maintain this high-level of scholarship, faculty and staff need access to vital equipment and resources.
Education
The University of Wisconsin should follow a policy of shared governance, allowing collaborative decision-making by all stakeholder groups, including students, faculty, staff, administration, and the people of Wisconsin.
Communication
There should be open communication between Administration and other stakeholder groups regarding priorities, budgeting, etc.

OUTREACH

Embodiment of Wisconsin Idea
The boundaries of the UW should be the boundaries of the state. The UW should foster active collaboration between each campus and local community to improve the lives of the people of Wisconsin. Scholars should seek practical applications for their research to positively impact the community. The UW should provide for the dissemination and application of relevant research to benefit the state.

FUNDING

The UW System should be primarily funded by the State of Wisconsin, including suficient funding to support both core and interdisciplinary programs in the university. Priority should be placed on the teaching, research and outreach missions of the UW.
