CAPE is a coalition organization. In addition to individual faculty, academic staff, graduate students, undergraduate students and concerned citizens, its members include:

CAPE also works closely with the Public Representation Organization of the Faculty Senate (PROFS) at UW-Madison.

Internal Structure & Leadership

CAPE is is headed by two Co-Chairs and has four standing Committees: Lobbying, Organizing, Shared Governance and Publicity. It also has a Strategy Group which is convened as necessary by the CAPE Co-Chairs and open to all CAPE members.

Lobbying Committee

Chair: Open

The Lobbying Committee is focused on how to approach state government in order to secure full and adequate funding for the UW. In particular, the committee has worked to educate the governor and legislators on the work that is done in the UW and how vital that work is to the well-being of Wisconsin as a whole.


Publicity Committee

Chair: Kaja Rebane, Project Assistant in Environmental Studies and Agricultural and Applied Economics

The Publicity Committee works to keep the UW and Wisconsin Community abreast of current news and events through press releases, newpaper articles, newsletter features, email, the CAPE website and other media.


Organizing Committee

Chair: Open

The Organizing Committee reaches out to members of the UW and Wisconsin community, transmitting their concerns and stories back to CAPE and educating them. The Organizing committee recruits CAPE members and others to participate in lobbying visits, and also invites members of the community to join CAPE.


Shared Governance Committee

Chair: Bill Tracy, Chair of Agronomy

This committee is focused on maintaining a constructive dialogue with the UW administration, stressing the UW's foundational principle of shared governance. This committee has worked closely with administrators to present the real consequences of policies, to develop alternate approaches, and to ensure that the voices of the UW community are adequately represented.
